Mumbai Cop Arrested For Accepting RS 70,000 Bribe To Not Register FIR

A 35-year-old police officer in Mumbai has been captured for supposedly taking hush-money of Rs 70,000 from a person for not enrolling a FIR against him, police said on Tuesday.
A group from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday got colleague police monitor Swapnil Babanrao Masalkar of Khar police headquarters while taking hush-money sum from the complainant, an authority said.
The complainant possesses a structure in the western suburb of Khar, which the community body had recognized as weather beaten and gave sees, he said.
The complainant took care of the design with iron sheets, yet a few businesspeople stopped a police objection against him for ruining their organizations at the structure, the authority said.
The blamed police officer called the complainant to the police headquarters and said a FIR will be enlisted against him, and on the off chance that he wished to keep away from it, he should offer an incentive, he said.
Masalkar has been captured under applicable segments of the Prevention of Corruption Act and further examination is in progress, the authority added.
